About Habitat for Humanity of Boone County

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. As the first Habitat affiliate in Indiana, we continue to seek to put God’s love into action.

Our mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We partner with local families and volunteers to construct safe, affordable homes—empowering homeowners to invest in their future. Through a unique model that includes “sweat equity” and affordable mortgage options, families are not given a handout, but a hand up—building their own homes and their path to a better life.

Products & Services

Affordable Homeownership
We partner with local families to build safe, energy-efficient homes. Homeowners contribute “sweat equity” by helping build their own homes and those of others, then purchase their home through a no-profit, affordable mortgage.

Home Repair Program (when applicable)
We assist qualifying homeowners with critical home repairs, improving safety and livability while allowing families to stay in their homes longer.

Volunteer Opportunities
We offer hands-on volunteer experiences—from construction and site support to administrative help and event planning. No experience needed—just a willingness to serve.

Community Engagement & Education
We host workshops and programs to educate families and individuals about financial literacy, home maintenance, and the journey to homeownership.

ReStore
The Habitat for Humanity of Boone County ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home goods, appliances, and building materials at a fraction of retail prices.
