Manager of Marketing & Community Engagement

Position Summary

The Director of Marketing & Community Engagement is responsible for leading the Chamber’s brand, communications strategy, digital presence, content creation, member communications, and community engagement programs. This position serves as the organization’s storyteller, chief marketing strategist, and communications lead while overseeing engagement-focused programs that strengthen member involvement and enhance the Chamber’s visibility throughout Boone County.

Essential Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement the Chamber’s annual marketing and communications plan.
  • Manage all Chamber communications and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Maintain and enforce Chamber brand standards.
  • Create and execute promotional campaigns for Chamber events, programs, initiatives, and membership growth.
  • Produce and distribute the Chamber’s weekly newsletter and Monday Member Update.
  • Coordinate all member communications, announcements, event promotions, and organizational updates.
  • Develop communication strategies that increase member engagement and participation.

Digital Marketing

  • Manage all Chamber social media platforms.
  • Oversee website content, updates, and user experience.
  • Monitor and report on digital marketing performance and engagement metrics.
  • Develop strategies to increase website traffic, social engagement, and member interaction.
  • Maintain online event promotion and registration systems.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Serve as the Chamber’s lead storyteller and content creator.
  • Produce photography and videography for Chamber events and initiatives.
  • Create graphic design materials for print and digital marketing.
  • Develop member spotlight stories, business success stories, and community impact features.
  • Write and distribute press releases and coordinate media relations.
  • Identify and promote stories that showcase the positive impact of Boone County businesses and Chamber initiatives.

Podcast Administration & Production

Lead all administrative and promotional aspects of the Business Boon(e) Podcast, including:

  • Guest recruitment and outreach
  • Scheduling and coordination
  • Recording logistics and production support
  • Content development and episode planning
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Performance tracking and reporting
  • Coordination with technical production partners and advisors

Community Engagement Programs

Manage and grow:

  • Women in Business
  • Wellness in the Workplace
  • Emerging Leaders
  • Off the Clock
  • Future micro-group programs
  • Additional engagement initiatives focused on groups of fewer than 25 attendees

Responsibilities include:

  • Program planning and execution
  • Speaker recruitment
  • Registration management
  • Promotion and attendance growth
  • Participant engagement and follow-up

Member Resources & Publications

  • Manage and maintain the Chamber Membership Directory.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of the Member Relocation Guide.
  • Assist with the development of annual reports, membership materials, sponsorship guides, and other Chamber publications.
  • Ensure member information remains current and accurate across all platforms.

Research, Surveys & Analytics

  • Develop and administer member surveys to measure satisfaction, identify opportunities, and gather feedback.
  • Create and maintain a Chamber analytics dashboard tracking key organizational metrics.
  • Monitor membership engagement trends and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports on marketing performance, member engagement, and program participation.
  • Support data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in marketing, communications, community engagement, or nonprofit/chamber management.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Graphic design, photography, and videography experience.
  • Experience managing social media and digital marketing platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with members, sponsors, media, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, email marketing platforms, website management, and analytics tools.
