Sullivanmunce Cultural Center Announce Approval of Century Structure Designations
Zionsville, IN—The SullivanMunce Cultural Center, Inc. (SMCC) is pleased to announce the approval of an additional Century Structure, the Sally and Mark Zelonis home at 40 South Third Street in Zionsville, IN.
The program recognizes homes with a Century Structure designation (at least 100 years old). As part of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, the Century Structure Program honors Zionsville’s residential and commercial historic architecture within the Village area. Sixty-two structures have been approved to date.
The Zelonis residence, circa 1870, is a Carpenter Builder-style home, designed and built by local craftsmen. The home was used as a boarding house at least twice between 1950-1980 and included a bright yellow fiberglass fire escape chute along an exterior wall for many years. Renovations included removing composition shingles to
reveal the original clapboard siding in the late 1990’s. Over the past twenty-five years, the home has been featured on at least four major garden tours.
You can find out more about the Century Structure Program at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center in person or on our website https://www.sullivanmunce.org/researching-your-home.html
